Alright, schism is maybe a little too strong of a term to use. Though I would like to point out that schism can be used in the form of division or divide, not only in the context of religion. While it is used mostly in relation to the separation of the Greek and Roman churches my usage will also work and in just a moment you will see why.

Beauty is for some a religion.

I want to say that again just because it is both true and pertinent to the topic I wanted to cover.

But first a little background. My mother is somebody that has a natural beauty, it radiates from here in such a manner that you can't help but take notice. It encompasses here like a halo. Sorry, I used the religious theme a little too much there. But again I will say that she is a natural beauty. I on the other hand have to work for it. Mainly because I inherited genes from my father. Sorry dad, but they may look good on you, not a girl.

So I think that there is a little bit of a divide when it comes to beauty. Some treat it like it is optional and others see it as a religion. For all intensive purposes I am in the latter category.

The whole subject however led me to question what it means to be a natural beauty and what natural beauty means today. For me it means using products that I know and trust. Things that are present in my life already.

Here are a couple of them:

  • When I was growing up brewing tea was a past time for me. Sure I liked to drink it but one tea in particular was a must. That was a tea made from Calendula flowers. The reason is because it works great against acne. Either I would wait for it to cool and then wash my face with it or I would drink it. Taste is so-so. Face wash factor is unbeatable. I still do it from time to time.
  • When I was a kid I was pretty rough and tumble, not really tomboyish, but I liked to play. So cuts were a thing that had to be dealt with on a regular basis. Garlic cloves were often in short supply, and not because we cooked Italian food. Today you will still find cloves in my kitchen. I use them for rubbing out blemishes. When I was growing up they were applied to scratches. The juice always seemed to clean the scratch up quicker than without it.
  • I will use warm olive oil for a number of different purposes. You can treat dry hair, cuticles, and cracked heels. While this beauty secret has been used for thousands of years (Greek women used it) it does make a nice addition to my beauty arsenal.
  • Tea tree oil. What can I say – I love it. It gets rid of my acne, I can use it in my household to clean with and I know one person that makes their own deodorant out of it. It really is a nice ingredient to have around.

I might update the list if I think of more. In the event that you want to contribute to the list you know that you are always welcome.

Do you have one of those jobs that requires you to wake up early? That is before five AM.

We as American seem to be getting up earlier and working longer hours. Our 24/7 world demands that of us and if you don't conform you are seen as lazy.

Some people feel affronted when you say you get up early others will praise you.

Jason Fitzpatrick writes: "First, sleep deprivation isn’t a badge of honor. It’s a very American/Protestant Work Ethic attitude to act like being so busy and stretched thin that you must go without sleep just to get it all done is something to be proud of."

What this means for me personally is that if I break that pattern. Say I feel like sleeping in on the weekend and I get up at six I will have a hard time getting back up at four-thirty during the week. There may be a name for this but I really haven't looked into it if there is a study or not. The main reason is that it would not help me in my personal situation. That said, it is best if I just maintain that cycle.

This does have the side effect that I my personal life is a little non-existent during the weekends.

If I need to be in bed between eight-thirty and nine every night to ensure that I feel rested the next morning it makes going out and celebrating challenging. Thankfully I have a SO that has a similar pattern so we have plenty of time to do activities together.

Some might suggest that naps can be helpful in such circumstances. While I have made other experiences. When you nap in the afternoon (great idea right, you feel tired) you get some of that energy back that you missed during the day. But when it is time to go to bed you still have that surplus and end up having a hard time falling asleep. That's why for me, it is all or nothing. And as much as I would like to get an hour or two of extra sleep on the weekends or go out I have to stick to my schedule.

When I do that everything is fine.

One of the pluses of having a schedule is that if you go to bed and get up at the same time everyday it is easy being a morning person. You just need to routine to make everything come together. Another bonus, at least during the summer is that when I get up early on the weekend the day seems longer and more productive.

Think of it this way.

If you are out of bed by five every morning during the week you need to be in bed the night before by nine. But if you stay up until two during the weekend and sleep until ten Monday morning is going to be really stressful.

I think that it is time I put together an about of some sort. Actually it has been on my mind for a while now and I just can't put it off any longer.

First, I am very happy that you are looking around my blog. I never thought that I would have one, but it is nice to know that people are interested in it now that I have one.

My name is Amber.

I studied to become a kindergarten teacher and it has been a rewarding choice, though people often over look it when choosing a career. Yet, it started for me with a simple question: "What do I have to give to children?"

I think most parents and educators ask themselves questions like that.

I had a rough childhood with a lot of ups and downs that played out through my parent's divorce and it made me sensitive to how children see the world around them when I got older. It was a eye opening day when I realized that I wanted to go into education. And it has always played a big role in my life. School was the only constant and one that I could excel at if I applied myself.

I want the children to have firm roots and feel safe and secure, but it's also means that they need to be given the room to unfold freely – and that reflects my philosophy so beautifully.

Yet, here on my blog you won't be finding any of that. I won't be focusing on the topic of education, however, instead I want to focus on normal everyday life.

That is why you will find a lot of little stories, you can see them as small windows into my life that will hopefully bring joy as well.

That wasn't so hard after all. 🙂

I think that it would be safe to say that I am a makeup junkie. No. That is a bit of an overstatement since I don't go into cosmetic withdraw.

My brother has claimed in the past that I he would sleep longer so that I had a chance make myself up in peace. The frightening thing: He could be right! But what he fails to mention when he brings the story up is that he still would have slept late, regardless.

Could I live without it?

Probably. But why would I want to?

So why do I make myself up?

Pro makeup – why I continue to use make up:

  • Small blemishes can be overlooked, especially on days when you don't feel so comfortable
  • Better first impression in the job
  • Out of habit
  • Because it's fun to adapt the makeup to the rest of the styling
  • Skin care (including peeling, creams, etc.) costs almost more time than makeup
  • No one sees pimples and skin blemishes
  • Makeup reduces stress and strengthens well-being
  • Improved appearance, e.g. eyes seem larger by mascara, although it may not be obvious to anyone (then you have done your job well).

Contra makeup – why you can do without makeup:

  • Because you get fewer wrinkles in old age
  • Women without makeup often have more self-awareness. (Gwyneth Paltrow, doesn't use make-up very often, for example.)
  • Better, healthier skin
  • Not to forget that women look good even without
  • The younger the woman, the thicker the makeup – so without appearing to be more mature
  • The rest of the world doesn't notice whether you wear mascara or not
  • You save yourself the money and can spend it on more facial care products
  • When you look in the mirror, you're more likely to see yourself for who you are

Who would have thought? A tie! For me personally, that means I will continue to use make-up, now and in the future. But morning stress because the make-up isn't perfect? Never again! Because I know it won't stand out to anyone anyway.

When I exercise there are certain rituals that I will preform. Nothing strange or fancy. Just little things that are there to tell me I did well.

And in no small part a sort of reward.

I hate the thought of exercising because it just feels like work. But when you sit at a desk from 9-5 you need to stay in shape. And so more work is involved. One of the problems for me is that the word exercise is a strange word. Or, maybe the word itself isn't that strange, it is the connotation that comes with it.

Anyway, that is something that I want to save for another post.

Today it is all about the little things that we do when we buckle down when there is something that we really don't like doing. For me it is sweaty smelly physical exertion.

I am exaggerating, though it is true I would do other things than jog along the treadmill for twenty minutes or work my legs even though evolution has made me adapt at it. Music helps, but I find it hard to concentrate and it is easier to just power through it. The woman that usually uses the machine next to me just watches Property Brothers or something similar and zones out.

That would be nice.

But it is a null topic, my TV watching starts when I get home and have taken a shower and I'm curled up on the couch.

My ritual takes on the shape of changing into fresh clothes after the workout. For a lot of the people that frequent the gym that I go to it is finish up and rush out the door. It is a stretch for me to imagine driving home all sweaty but a lot of people do it. When the session is complete I grab my bag and go into a changing room and get freshed up.

On the way home I will stop by Wendy's and pick up a small portion of French fries. When I get home I shower and put on my extra thick bath rode and relax on the sofa with a hot mug of tea.

See, all simple and very easy. Nothing that would ruin benefit from the workout and it makes me so relaxed.

What types of rituals do you have?

Life is sort of a balancing act, at least it seems like that to me sometimes.

Thus the name of the site is See Chaos.

Really, I don't like pushing the limits yet there are times when it is necessary to put in a little more. Still doing too much can be seen by some as the equivalent of not doing anything, at least in the context on having a life. And this is somehow true. At lest it is true in the sense that you have to have a good balance to really enjoy life.

When you take on too much you end up becoming fixated on it. This "workaholic" style of existence doesn't leave a lot of room for other activities. Friends and family feel neglected though you might not be able to realize that.

I have a tendency to do, too much.

I wouldn't define myself as a workaholic. When my eight hours are complete I am ready to go home. But it is the free time that gets eaten up by extra activities.

Activities range from gym three days a week to volunteer work at our church and community center, to helping family and friends. One of the things that I have noticed is that when you are "helpful" people will ask you for help. That means that the more you make yourself available the more they are willing to ask for help. Plus they sort of expect you to say yes.

When I started working I still had a lot of volunteer work from my time in college and so it just seemed natural to maintain those obligations. These led the way to other opportunities and I quickly found all of my free time eaten up.

It took several years for me to get things balanced out. What helped bring things into balance was one simple question:

Do you want to do it?

I wish I could take credit for it. But my brother asked me the question, so no big epiphany there, but it really was an eye opener none the less. And the answer was:

No. Not really.

From that day forward I started to work on rolling back the obligations that I allowed myself to take on. And it was a good day indeed.

Of course I made sure that there was a replacement there to take on my work, but you know it is funny, the majority of the time there was. And in one instance there was another volunteer that had been patiently waiting for me to step back so that they could take over my job.

That was the funniest part.

By being so blind to what was going on around me I became oblivious to opportunities that would help me reduce that load.

Pushing the limits can be rewarding if you have a clear goal in mind and you are focusing on completing a task. The feeling of succeeding is tremendous and because there is a finishing line it is not indefinite. But when we do too much for the sake of doing it that finishing line doesn't exist. And you just keep going.

When this happens you can easily get caught in an endless cycle where you do more than you should.

This post got a lot longer than I set down to write. But I really hope it will be one of those epiphany moments for at least one other person. If my brother hadn't asked me that simple question I would probably be too busy to write on my site.

The island of Delos in the Aegean Sea houses the new exhibition by Antony Gormley, the famous British sculptor.

In keeping with the island's statues, temples and countryside, Gormley has positioned 29 sculptures he has made over the past 20 years.

His goal is to establish a physical and intellectual connection with our collective human memory.

"Sculpture can offer us the opportunity to escape mechanical time, the time of the iPhone, the stress. And this place is a place that stands out of time," Gormley said.

For the ancient Greeks, the island of Delos, near Mykonos, was a sacred place. According to the myth, the deities Apollo and Artemis were said to have been born there.

The newest addition to the Royal Family is here: Duchess Meghan gives birth to a son! The couple shared the news on Instagram, the child was born in the early hours of the morning and weighs 7.3 pounds.

Prince Harry and Meghan's newborn baby lines up just after his father to the British throne and is now the seventh behind: Prince Charles (70) is still in the top spot followed by his the eldest son William, 36; Who is followed by his children George (5), Charlotte (4) and Louis (1) in third, fourth and fifth places. Prince Harry, 34, now ranks sixth, with his young son now seventh.

For many Britons (and Americans), the newborn is nevertheless high on the Royal Fan scale: After all, his father, Prince Harry, 34, is considered the most popular member of the royal family. Once the nation's problem child, he seems to be grown up since the wedding.

The baby literally puts the crown on all of that for him.

But I am curious how the small family present themselves to the public? Kate, 37, and William, 36, are said to be flawless with their three cute children – the perfect family.™ For some, this is a little too smooth and seen with suspicion. My mother hold that opinion.

Harry, on the other hand, has long been regarded as an enfant terrible (that is "terrifying child" in French) at the palace, with the public forgiving him for alcohol and cannabis stories, beating attacks and bizarre party appearances. Former actress Meghan Markle was nevertheless far from apt for many Royal fans: The bourgeois American (yay, we made it to the Royal Court) has been married before, she has African American roots, and relatives are constantly coming forward in the Gossip press to speak out about her and make the 37-year-old look bad.

Meghan is sometimes treated unfairly in the British press, but that could be said about Kate, too. William Hanson, a royal expert from London, said, "Meghan, however, has more often violated the courtly protocol. But it has improved-and it has never been terrible. "

For many fans, Meghan's entry into the Royal Family has been a breath of fresh air to the monarchy.

What I love about Meghan is that in her marriage vow she promised no obedience. If you follow Royal Weddings this is out of character for the brides. Since the acclaimed wedding she has been marketed as the modern face of the Royal Family and a feminist. She also showed off with a round baby bump during public appearances with bare shoulders and darkly lacquered fingernails while Kate made few appearance and was hardly been seen late in her pregnancies.

As recently as February, Meghan had written encouraging messages for prostitutes on bananas during a visit to an aid organization.

For me she is an inspirational person and I am happy for the couple.

For those of you who don't know, Peter Mayhew was the performer who played Chewbacca, the furry creature from "Star Wars." The British-born actor died at his estate in Texas on April 30. Peter's family shared the information on Mayhew's Twitter page on Thursday. The cause of death has not been given. A funeral service for friends and loved ones is planned at the end of June, with a meeting scheduled to take place in Los Angeles in December, the notice said.

Chewbacca was his biggest role, the Wookiee, who fought for good in five Star Wars films alongside Han Solo. Han Solo actor Harrison Ford described Mayhew as a wonderful friend.

Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the space saga, also made similar comments on Twitter. Hamill, said he was proud to have had so many beautiful moments with Mayhew. He was a great man with a big heart, he added.

Peter Mayhew was 74.

The three-day pop culture event, Middle East Film and Comic Con is the city's biggest festival.

While "Avengers: Endgame" has a good chance of becoming the most commercially successful film of all time (to date). The finale of the saga unites the superheroes of the Marvel universe.

The Middle East Film & Comic Con in Dubai is another example of how huge the fascination with hero stories is – the event brings film and television stars together with fans and brings comic book heroes to life.

Bob Layton is one of the visionaries of the comic book industry, he co-developed Iron Man and the New Ant Man:

"My relationship with Iron Man is 40 years old and has gone through so many developments that my name is now synonymous with the character. Meeting with others and sharing your experiences and the love and passion for it, or talking to the people who created the heroes and discover the stories behind the scenes-all these things are terribly exciting."

Since its founding in 2012, the fair has become the largest event of its kind in the region. More than 50,000 people were expected to attend this year's Con. Many visitors have dressed up and pose as their favorite character or come in their own fantasy costumes.

Cosplay fans can take part in costuming competitions, visitors can also test the latest technologies in the industry and meet stars, including performers from "The Walking Dead:

"It's quite amazing that whenever we go on press trips and no matter what part of the world we're in, everyone really totally get in on the show. That's really great. The event here is really well organised, we met such nice people-both staff and fans. Everyone was so welcoming, my first visit to the Middle East is really fantastic," according to actor Ross Marquand who plays Aaron.

The fair director Michael Lamprecht says: "What makes Dubai Comic Con so special is that when you attend a comic fair in San Diego or New York, it is very much tied to the respective country, while Dubai Comic Con has a very mixed audience."

Amazing.
